I have to admit, I dropped Hellblazer. I… couldn’t keep up with the story. I felt like I was missing too much. And that really stinks because I like Constantine as a character, but the story in this book just couldn’t keep me. And yet, somehow, I am still reading a book that likely doesn’t need my help: Flash which I have been on edge for for multiple weeks, but here I am at #17 and I still haven’t been turned away. Something about Wally West (the new one) really keeps this story grounded for me.
In other news, I will likely be pulling my hair out at what comes next in IvX and rolling my eyes at the seven-layer-cake-I-know-I-shouldn’t-have-but-still-do Extraordinary X-Men because the drama is just too sweet.
I’m trying Old Guard because it’s Greg Rucka’s new joint (and to be on board with Kate). And I’m nabbing Belfry because I (absentmindedly) didn’t grab a physical copy at NYCC last year at Gabriel Hardman’s booth.
SLAM! is where it’s at in awesome indie books. Read this book. PLEASE. It’s a wonderful story about Roller Derby and adult friendship. I know no book like it (save, maybe Giant Days).
Finally, with Curse Words #2 dropping this week, I am on the edge of my seat wondering what magical strangeness Charles Soule and Ryan Browne will throw at us next. #1 was such a whirlwind of fun and questions, I hope they can top it.
