Admittedly, Archer and Armstrong hasn’t been my favorite Valiant title, despite the addition of Mike Norton on art. The scale of events seems ramped-down from Fred Van Lente’s run…and it’s one that seems oddly obsessed with reconnecting the series to the book’s original run twenty plus years ago. I know Valiant prides themselves on not rolling out another arc until they truly feel they’ve got a great story on their hands…but this revisiting of this not-so-dynamic duo seems superfluous.
Guys, I’m rounding the corner when it comes to being current on Batman, by this time next week I’m hoping to be there. We actually got a bit of a scheduling shake-up this month; the Catwoman-centric “Rooftops” arc featuring Mitch Gerads on pencils was only meant to be a one-shot. Apparently they decided that this wasn’t going to be easily squeezed into a single issue, and turned it into a two-parter. Bottom line, I love this team-up (that previously worked together on The Sheriff of Babylon) and am genuinely interested to see how King continues to redefine the Catwoman/Batman relationship.
Finally, Green Arrow adds a fourth artist into the mix with Peter Nguyen this week. His work background seems to be sporadic and infrequent as of late, and I’m not familiar with most of what he’s done. I don’t want to speak too soon, but I wonder if this is a sign of what’s to come under the pressure of DC’s double-ship mandate.
